  1. Detail from the Bayeux Tapestry
  2. - Made in southern England, c.1082-7.  Centre Guillaume le Conqu├¿rant, Bayeux.
  3. William the Conqueror receives the keys of the castle of Dinant, and invests Harold with his arms, thus making him his feudal subordinate (far right).  In the text above, 'Haroldo' is placed below 'Willelm'.
  4. Note the castle keep and the prominence given to the mounted knights.
